TMT Group’s new headquarters in Stockport, designed by Sheila Bird Studio, brings together a lot of what the company already does well. It’s a mix of construction know-how, experimentation and a clear interest in more sustainable ways of building. The space is split into two parts: the main office and the TMT Construction Lab, which is where prototypes are tested and ideas are tried out in a hands-on way.

The team leaned heavily into circular design for the project. You see reclaimed steel, old scaffolding and reused timber throughout, alongside materials like Polygood and Paperstone that keep the environmental footprint down. Inside, the design stays warm and tactile, with natural finishes and a few biophilic touches that help soften the workspace. There are also flexible social areas that double up as event or workshop spaces, which fits nicely with TMT’s collaborative, community-driven culture.
